POLY GROUP was established with the incorporation of flagship company POLY PRODUCTS NIG LIMITED on June 15th, 1965 as a Limited Liability Company (Ltd) and commenced operation in 1966.

The principal activity of the Group at inception was the manufacturing and printing of various types of polyethylene film. Subsequently, the company expanded into other types of plastic processing and currently produces several specialty films, as well as blow moulded containers for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors. Other products include pet bottles and closers for beverages/alcohol/edible oil, jerry cans/drums for the chemical and oil industries, and polypropylene and pet packing straps. The company has stayed true to its core competencies and to this day, operates only in the field of plastics processing for packaging materials. As such, we have been able to focus on innovation in providing our customers with the most attractive, functional and cost-effective packaging solutions.

Company Milestones

The flagship company of the group Poly Products Nig. Ltd. was incorporated. The land was acquired in Obanikoro – Lagos and developed 3,500 sqf. To achieve the vision of the hygienic packing for bakery products (bread, etc.) Plain PE Films machines were ordered from Japan. The team traveled to Japan to attain the basic knowledge of the production line.

Production of the Plain PE Films began. Shell International assisted the Group with a cash loan to procure new machines for starting a printed product line. The Group procures new German machines for the manufacturing of the printed products (branded). As the market was growing, there was a need for expansion. The company was allotted land by LSDPC in Ilupeju Industrial Scheme.

The Group moved its operation from Obanikoro to Ilupeju Industrial Scheme The Group diversified is its product line to making bags for agriculture products and became a major supplier in west Africa.

The Group expanded its operation in Ijebu Ode and Aba to cater local agriculture industry.

The Group added rigid packing products to its product portfolio with products like food packaging and household items.To cater to a growing market, the Group acquired land in Ota – Ogun state and Kano. Kano’s operation began with products such as household items and PP Mats for prayer. The Group also ventured into the production of PVC products (tiles & pipes), caps & closer for the cosmetic and food industry and PP films.

The Group started the production of jerry cans for the petroleum industry.

Guinness, NBL, and Berger Paints approached the company to serve their industry with products like crates and paint containers. This was achieved by establishing the new production unit in Ikeja Ekpe Road – Lagos. The Group also bought land at Ota Ogun state.

The Group added products such as water tanks and PET products to its product portfolio.

The Group set up a new plant at Isolo – Lagos for the production of cast films.

The Group started production of single-stage PET products by acquiring the ASB machines.

The Group set up a plant for exclusively supplying edible oil products to Grand Cearels Oil Mills in Jos.

The Group set up a new plant at Ota Ogun State for flexible packaging to cater to the food and agriculture industry.

A new plant was set up for caps & closures products, at Ota Ogun State, boasting a production line for Continuous Compression Molding (CCM) based on the Sacmi and other injection moulding machines.
